CBD for Mental Power

Blog

We’ve become increasingly interested over the past while to see just how deep the effects of the genus cannabis plant can have on humans and animals. We all know that CBD can help with anxiety, stress, sleep disorders and many other feel-good factors. We also are aware of it’s powerful anti-inflammatory properties, which is why it’s so beneficial to use topically, especially for those with skin conditions. Is it possible, though, that we can get even more from this plant?

Let’s take a step back, first. Do we know why it is becoming so widely used for these conditions? Our body’s endocannabinoid system is to thank for this, which is comprised of extremely sensitive CB1 and CB2 receptors. These are found within the central and peripheral nervous system, acting as neurotransmitters to regulate cognitive processes, immune response and even pain perception.

Ultimately, the goal of our endocannabinoid system is to help achieve homeostasis in the body.

Studies have shown that CBD is also considered neuroprotective – meaning that it protects the neurons in the brain from damage or degeneration, which preserves cognitive function. A 2016 study even found that CBD can help reverse the loss of memory function associated with dementia. This is because CBD helps to increase the connection between brain cells – And the best part? This study’s results have been validated by clinical trials as well as research from additional laboratories.

One of the main contributors to brain functionality and mood is serotonin (happy hormones) and glutamate (neurotransmitter, shaping learning and memory). Because of CBD’s ability to act as a connecter through our CB1 and CB2 receptors, it helps boost serotonin and glutamate naturally. When people take CBD and “just feel better” afterwards, that is because there are actual chemicals in your brain that are being received & processed properly, resulting in happier days and a better mental capacity to deal with stress.

Fun, isn’t it? We love how more and more people are opening up to CBD, becoming less apprehensive & understanding the many wild benefits of this plant!

xx
